Physiotherapy training was introduced in India in the year of 1952. This health service is one of the most popular and sought after treatment in western countries. Although it has been more than five decades since its introduction in our country the awareness is only gradually but surely growing. It is quite certain that considering the population of the country and the number of therapist produced every year, the profession has a tremendous potential for development in few years to come.

Bachelors in Physiotherapy
Students will be trained in core skills like manual therapy, therapeutic exercise and the application of electro physical modalities. By the end of the course students will be able to identify and maximize movement potential through motion.

Scope in Physiotherapy
Higher studies: The completion of the bachelors’ degree course in physiotherapy opens up multiple avenues for further studies. The undergraduate students are eligible for masters in physiotherapy in India and abroad countries like UK, Australia and New zealand. They are also eliglible to do DPT (Doctorate in Physiotherapy) in USA. Apart from this students can also pursue studies in varied streams like M.Sc Anatomy, Physiology, Post graduate diploma in sports sciences, Hospital administration etc.

Job Prospects
In India first contact practice and referral practice is possible in physiotherapy. The investment needed to set up a basic physiotherapy clinic is meager but has a very huge potential which would enable the professional to lead a successful life.

It has become a part and parcel of any hospital to have a full fledged physiotherapy department opening up many job vacancies both as clinical physiotherapists and as academic faculty.

Physiotherapists forms very important members of the rehabilitation team.They extend their professional skill to various voluntary organizations in India and also to the ones managed by the UN. They are also required to serve as volunteers in times of natural calamities.

As fitness nowadays is not a partial statement but a serious pursuit for many individuals. Instead of going for non professional and non scientific methods of training, people are aware that physiotherapist can give tailor made fitness programs to cater to their requirements.

Admission

Duration of Course
The duration of the Bachelor of Physiotherapy (BPT) is 4 ½ years followed by 6 months internship. The medium of instruction is English for all the subjects of study and for the examination of BPT course.

Eligibility
Candidates who have a minimum of 45% aggregate marks in Physics, chemistry and biology are eligible and should have completed 17years of age as on 31st of December of the year of admission.
