HISTORY
In view of the changing Health Care Services worldwide
and a wider acknowledgement about the importance
of physical Rehabilitation of the disabled. Physiotherapy
gained importance in last 50 years in Western
countries. This ripple set waves in India as well.
Vokkaligara Sanga felt the need of our people
in this area to complete their mission of giving
total Health Care to the needy and poor.
The Sanga sought permission from Government of
Karnataka and Rajiv Gandhi University of Health
Sciences to start Bachelor's Degree Programme
in Physical Therapy, in the year 1997, Both statutory
bodies permitted to start the course with an intake
of 25 students to be trained in the Department
of Physiotherapy of the Kempegowda Institute of
Medical Sciences (accorded sanction). Today the
Department has grown up in facility and faculty.
It has gained an independent identity, with the
name, "Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy",
named after the later ruler 'Sri Kempegowda',
the founder of Bangalore City, whose portrait.
The institution has an annual intake of 40 students
BPT & 10 students MPT.

LOCATION 
Kempegowda Institute of Physiotherapy is located
in the Garden city and I.T Capital of India Bangalore.
Bangalore is located in the most southern part
of Karnataka. This capital city of Karnataka is
an International hub for Information Technology
in India. The information super highway has revolutionized
the growth of the city, resulting in goods roads,
excellent infrastructure, ample power, better
transport system and modern means of communication.
The lush green lawns, trees and exotic garden
everywhere makes this cosmopolitan city a blend
of unique style. Bangalore also boasts of the
Magnificent Vidhana Soudha, which is an architectural
beauty, built by Late Chief Minister Sri Kengal
Hanumanthaiah. The climate is pleasant throughout
the year with medium rainfall in the month of
June and July and a brief summer period in may.
One can experience a peasant winter in November
and December. Average temperature during day varies
from 24C to 30C and night from 15C to 25C according
to the season at different times of the year.
In Bangalore, the college lies in the heart of
the city. It is located 5Km south of bangalore
Central Railway and Bus Station and 16KM away
from Airport. Easy transportation is available
by Bus, Taxi, Auto-Rickshaw etc to the college.
To the north is the reputed Victoria Hospital,
Vani Vilas Women and Children Hospital, National
College, Corporation Swimming Pool etc.. Towards
east there is the well renowned Lalbagh Botanical
Garden and to the west is the Tippu's Palace,
Theosophical Society, Adisankaracharya Matt (Chamarajpet)
etc.
